With the shift to online learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve all been rapidly
pushed into joining virtual meetings and online classes without any training. To help you
succeed, the SIKAT Learning team has come up with tips for you to quickly adapt to those
online classes and ace them.
Take the time to study your student’s learning schedule. Communicate with your child as to rules and schedules. Assign a school bag for modules, learning kits, pens and other supplies you may need. Agree on a system to recognize achievements with rewards.
LEARN A LITTLE AT A TIME
Looking at all the subjects in the curriculum can be overwhelming. Take each lesson a little at a time. A little math, a little science, a little reading…mixed with playtime and spread throughout the day will make studying easier both for you and your student.
One of the advantages of working and studying from home is spending more time together. Now is your chance to build lessons around your routines and preferences. Try reading, cooking or exercising together. Relate the online lesson to your real-world skills and share your experiences.
If the required school activity is turning into a struggle, remember your relationship with your child is more significant in the long term. Pause, take a break then resume the activity when both of you are refreshed.
BE CONFIDENT: YOU CAN DO IT!
Teaching your child and coaching them with online lessons isn’t as complicated as it seems. There are a multitude of resources -old schoolbooks, websites, even YouTube videos. SIKAT LEARNING can also assist you and your child with online learning through virtual one-on-one tutorials or small group classes.
